Practical gifted education for the classroom

How do you give advanced students greater depth and challenge without simply giving them more work?

In this practical 30-minute workshop, we’ll explore how Project-Based Learning can be used to differentiate for gifted and advanced students within the regular classroom.

We’ll look at ways to increase depth, complexity, choice and student ownership, with practical ideas teachers can adapt to their own classrooms.

A gifted student can have friends, participate socially and appear completely settled, yet still miss the experience of being truly understood by peers who think, question and learn in similar ways.

In this 30-minute workshop, we’ll explore why access to intellectual peers can matter for gifted students’ sense of belonging, engagement and motivation.

The aim is not to suggest that gifted students should only socialise with other gifted students. Instead, we’ll look at why having opportunities to meet and learn alongside like-minded peers can provide a form of connection that may be difficult to find in the regular classroom.
